Developmental Intervention is a consultancy run by Margaret Barrett and is the result of many years spent working with disabled children and their families.
Margaret originally qualified as a teacher of mentally handicapped children and went on to teach children with multiple handicaps. She then underwent 2 years training in developmental education in the U.S.A. and on her return to the U.K. worked for a number of charities concerned with brain injured children. During her career she has helped families in several countries including Switzerland, Australia, Finland and Japan. She is now based in South Wales but still makes twice yearly visits to Japan to work with children there.
The approach offered by Developmental Intervention is based on a combination of Margaret's teaching experience and the intensive therapeutic measures learned in the U.S.A. based on the theories of Doman and Delacato, but adapted to make it practical and accessible to more families.
